As you may already know, I am not only OccasionallyJane but also Designs In Blue Light. I have a little shop on Etsy where I sell my own jewelry designs alongside a fine collection of vintage and antique jewelry, which is my passion. I collect it, admire it, love to shop for it (finding treasures is the best!) often gasping at the beauty and craftsmanship that has lasted 50, or 200, years. I study, I belong to groups for collectors and sellers of vintage jewelry, let’s face it, I’m a NUT when it comes to the stuff. I love romanticizing about the history of something so intimate as a piece of jewelry, thinking about all the people who have loved it and imagining the stories of how it was originally acquired. That is FABULOUS.
As a friend said to me recently “I’ve collected many vintage pieces and I am inspired by the journey an artist takes and how it shows up in their work. It is often where I find inspiration.”
I have a special obsession with pins and brooches. Such elegant little pieces of art, like tiny sculptures you can wear! I think perhaps I am on a personal mission to bring back the brooch! I wear them in my hair, on hats, with jeans or when I’m all glammed up. I’ve even been known to stick one on a designer handbag from time to time.
You may recall a recent post I did on John Wind of Maximal Art; a phenomenal Jewelry Designer based in Philadelphia (Read post). John shares my passion for all things vintage AND brooches so his designs just speak to me. Every now and then I find someone who seems to see the world in a similar way and I just want to shout from the rooftops “See? Someone gets me!!!”
You can read more about John Wind here but in the meantime, check it out:

John’s early looks were heavily collage-inspired. He later moved on to using more images with resin. Currently, he is working with vintage inspired metals and stones.
And here comes the “Drum roll” part:
John Wind and Maximal Art have generously donated these three FABULOUS scatter pins (below) to OccasionallyJane, so that OccasionallyJane can give them to one of YOU! How AMAZING is that?! (…she typed while secretly wondering how to enter this contest herself….)

So here are the rules:
1. You must be a follower of OccasionallyJane (I am. Check.)
2. You must leave a comment about your favorite John Wind Pin either from the Maximal Art website
OR
3. You could make it really interesting and do some digging. Find a John Wind Pin from an earlier collection listed elsewhere on the web and send us the link! (Got it. Check.)
4. You must not be me. (Oooh! Foiled.)
**You CAN comment (meaning enter) more than once, as long as each of your comments is about a different item. All comments must be submitted by Midnight EST on Saturday June 12th to be entered into the drawing. The winner will be chosen by Random.org on Sunday, June 13th at 3pm EST.
Sooooo EASY! I should be making you work harder.
Alright. Ready. Set. GO!
